Searchreset For Firefox

broken image

Firefox 31 in includes a search bar for the 'new tab' page; so now you have two. Take a look at that extension (Options or Preferences) to see how to disable ones of those 2 search bars. Or see if an update has been released for that extension, specifically for Firefox 31, with an option to disable the search bar. Download Firefox extensions and themes. They're like apps for your browser. They can block annoying ads, protect passwords, change browser appearance, and more. The attempt was started when I lost some features to Firefox: Stop loading site 'X'; 'Home Page' & 'Reload' moved, etc. Firefox installs updates and changes which confuse the former format. I have installed SearchReset, but cannot find it.

This used to be what I saw on the main area in front of me, but now I have a thing with MySearchDial in front and I can't change back. I have deleted My Search Dial from the programs.
Thanks for your help.

Search Reset For Firefox Browser

hello, please install the search reset addon - it will revert the most common customizations those adware programs do in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
in case this doesn't solve the issue please try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - 'show folder', then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named ''user.js'' (it might be used to overwrite your custom settings). in case it is present , delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards.

  • I'd like to know how to set which page appears when I open a new tab. I've already set my home page to what I'd like, but I'm having trouble setting which page appears once I open new tabs while I'm already online.

You can do that by using an add-on such as:
    * NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
    * New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

  • It plays a happy little tune, but gets old fast. Please help!

  • In the prior version of Firefox before I was encouraged to download the newest version.. when I would open a new tab: on the blank page below would appear thumbnail versions of web sites I had frequented which was awesome to return to sites without even going to bookmarks. Now when I open a new tab it is just a blank white screen beneath. Is there something I can do to make thumbnails appear again on the screen below when I open a new tab?

You can change this in Firefox's about:config preferences editor.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste ''about:config'' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste ''newtab'' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the ''browser.newtab.url'' preference and enter the desired value:
    '(i) Page thumbnails (default)'
    about:newtab
    '(ii) Blank tab'
    about:blank
    '(iii) Built-in Firefox home page'
    about:home
    '(iv) Any other page'
    full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?

  • Everytime I open up a new tab, it switches to a blank page.

  • My Daughter downloaded accidently a tool bar, Searchqu.com. I have removed the tool bar and application, and reset the homepage. However when I open a new tab it defaults to http://www.searchqu.com/, how do I change this? I have tried resetting it to default and it does not help.

Did you try opening ''about:config'' and filtering on the url (or part of it) to see if there is a configuration variable involved.
How did you remove the toolbar and application, did you have to go into the control panel or did an extension sim,ply uninstall.

  • I just recently downloaded Firefox 5.0 and it appears that they have changed or deleted one of my favorite features. It used to be that when I opened a new tab it would displayed like 9 of my most visited sites. Is this still possible with Firefox 5.0 or is it permanently deleted? If it is possible, how do I alter the settings to get this feature back? Thank you.

As far as I know, this has never been a feature of Firefox's core. Do you have an addon such as New Tab JumpStart or New Tab King that gave you this feature in Firefox 4? It's possible that whatever addon gave you this feature before hasn't been updated to work with Firefox 5. If you don't want to wait for that addon to update, you could try either of the addons I mentioned above.
    Here's NTJS: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-jumpstart/
    And NTK: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-king/

  • My friend uses Google Chrome browser, and when he openes a new tab he can see on it a thumbnail view of 6 or 8 recent visited pages. Vith a simple click on each of them he can revisit that pages.
I do not want to change my default browser (Firefox) but want to have that option.

There are several add-ons that allow you to do this, such as [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777/ New Tab Homepage] and [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2221/ NewTabURL].

  • I updated Firefox, and after I restarted it, when I opened a new tab, I found that I now had two Google search bars: one next to where you type web addresses, and one right above my pinned sites (or my frequently visited sites). I'm just trying to:
    1. Figure out why it is necessary to have two of the pretty much identically useful search bars when I really only need one (or can physically type Google in)
    and
    2. How do I get rid of the unnecessary second Google search bar above my frequently visited and therefore pinned sites.
If you have any ideas of how to remove this annoying addition, I would appreciate it.

I am guessing that you installed an extension, related to 'new tab', which added the first search bar.
